Feeling The Season

Hello Everyone,

With October just one day away, I have been feeling a little bit of Autumn in me.  Today, I played with some great fabrics that spoke of October to me.

And I played with this great thread to compliment the fabrics I chose.

A few novelty fabrics were thrown in for fun!

I quilted it with this thread and guess what, I didn't do it on the long arm.  Since it was a small project, I chose to do it on my domestic machine.

I would say, it didn't turn out to bad.  But I can't show you what I made yet... you will have to come back here on October 9 when you will have the tutorial to make this project!!

I am a designer in the Glorious Autumn Block Party hosted by Michele Foster of the Quilt Gallery.  You will find my tutorial here on October 9!! Make sure you stop back then to see what I have been making.

Until Next Time...

Pets on Quilts... Contest

Hello Everyone,

Many of us quilters have pets.  Some have cats, some have dogs, and some have other types of pets like frogs, turtles and the like.

I thought it would be fun to have a contest for some fabric that I would like to giveaway.  So, I started it on Facebook a few days ago and wanted to share some of the entries with you.

This is not an entry, this is just my kitties, Watson and Pavi on my quilt.

This is Monika's kitty on her newly finished quilt.

These are Carole's two Maltese playing chase on her quilt.

This is Seamus on Elena's quilt... look at those eyes.

This is Woody on Tina's quilt.

So if you would like to enter a photo to be part of the contest, just "LIKE" Canton Village Quilt Works on Facebook and post your photo there.

Just click here to go the FB page.  I can't wait to see some more of our best friends on quilts!!

Wrap Up

Hello Everyone,

The Things with Wings quilt show has now ended.  By all accounts it was a HUGE success.  It was well attended by men and women alike.  Something for everyone.  Many asking us to do it again next year and hoping to enter their quilts in the show!  Very exciting!!

Over the next week, I will be editing the photos of every single quilt that was entered into the show and uploading so all can see.

Right now I would like to acknowledge some of the fabulous people and happenings.

First up, our great vendors!

Julie of Cowles Quilting was busy demoing the Gammill during the show.

Close to Home was represented by Janet and Denise and these girls are great!

Wilma and Jim of Christian Lane Quilters shared there unique wares and quilting.

Barbara, her husband and her mom from Six Gables Designs had many different patterns and designs that were shared.

Look at this cute display!

My mom helped me in my booth all weekend.  We enjoyed being tucked under the wing of a plane.  I couldn't have done it without you, thanks Mom!

My very good friend Justine was my right hand AND left hand "man" throughout this show.  It is with her contribution, in more ways than one, that this show was a great success!!  Justine, I can't possibly thank you more... maybe Hawaii???

Don, one of our most prolific art quilters, had some unbelievable quilts on display.  He drew a crowd... a sort of harem.

Sue Reich gave two riveting lectures on her WWII quilts.

Here is Don and his wife Eunice, next to both of their quilts.  Eunice's quilt is on the left and Don's on the right.  By the way, not only do they both quilt, but they are both pilots!

Here is a photo of myself, Sue Reich, and Susan Orred.  Not only am I thankful to everyone, but especially these two ladies.  Sue Reich for showcasing her impeccable collection of WWII quilts, lecturing to the Veterans and to the show goers.  Susan Orred who is the Director of Development and Marketing at the museum, without Susan and ALL her guidance and her endless hours with me and all the volunteers, this show would have never happened.  Thank you, Susan!!

All the proceeds of this show benefitted the New England Air Museum, please visit them it is a little gem tucked conveniently in CT.

A crowd has appeared for the drawing of the wonderful baskets that were raffled off by the Hearthside Quilters of Harwinton, CT.  There were many happy winners!

Our viewer's choice ribbon winner for the Things with Wings challenge, Dottie!!

And our viewer's choice winner from our main exhibit, Don!

We had a table set up for crafts and demos.  These two lovely ladies helped our show goers make origami cranes.

The other side of the table had quilting demos going on, and all these ladies sat and sewed!!

After the quilts were all down, we had a very organized check out process courtesy of Justine.

And at the end of the show we all felt like this...

I know it is blurry... sorry she was moving too fast.
SUCCESS!!

Hope you enjoyed the journey, check back for a full slideshow of all the quilts entered in the show.

Don't forget to stop back tomorrow for the 13th block in the Blogger's BOM.

Until Next Time...

Here she is doing her thing!!

The crowd was all ears and had wonderful compliments all around!
